Research-Extension-Farmer Linkage Committee (RELC) Meeting

The Agric Department held it’s quarterly RELC meeting. The meeting drew participants from the Regional Agricultural Department, the District Agric Department and the Agriculture Extension Agents.

The meeting amongst others was to discuss performance of Agric Extension Agents, Field Observations and the Challenges as well as recommendations through the field and home visits.

New technologies were also introduced to the AEAs to be imparted to farmers to improve yield.

The main challenge to Agriculture production  in the District according to the meeting was excessive land degradation resulting from illegal mining. 

The recommendation was for massive reclamation to be carried out.


The District Chief Exective, Hon. Richmond Koduah, inaugurated a 41-Member District Homecoming Festival Planning Committee under his chairmanship on 9th June, 2022 at the District Assembly. The core mandate of the Committee is to organize activities leading to the maiden festival which is slated for November, 28 to 4th December, 2022 across the District. 

The District Homecoming Festival dubbed #MefriDenkyira is aimed at being an annual event aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people, promoting tourism and attracting business investment to enhance development of the District.

Highligts of activities will include fund raising, Sporting Events, Entertainment, Award ceremony and Grand Durbar of traditional Authorities in and around the District amongst many others.

Nine Sucommittees were also formed to undertake day-to-day planning of detailed activities. 

The District Planning Officer, Nana Boakye Agyapong, was tasked head the Homecoming Planning Committee Secretariat which will coordinate all activities before, during and after the celebrations. 


The DCE, Hon. Richmond Koduah together with the District Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Francis K. Ayensu, Agric Director, Mr. Eric K. Twum and all heads of Departments and Units of various institutions took part in the tree planting exercise.

The DCE, Richmond Koduah of UDWDA in a brief speech urged the students to put in their maximum effort to ensure that the trees survive to help avoid the depletion of the Ozone layer which is caused by the sun rays.

Again, the DCE made the students to know that we can get school furniture from the trees as well and ended his speech with the adage that goes when the last tree dies the last man also dies.

The DCE of Upper Denkyira West Richmond Koduah who doubles as the Board Chairman of Diaso Senior High School in the company of the District Director of Ghana Education Service, Mr. Frank Kow Hayford; the Headmaster of Diaso Senior High School (DIASS), Rev. Quaynor; and other Officals, visited the students of DIASS at morning Assembly and in Addition inspected the ongoing infrastructural projects undertaken by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the School.
The School which is among the the nine Model schools being constructed across the country after completion will have a 400 boys and 600 girls dormitories respectively , Headmaster and Assistant Headmaster residence respectively , 6-flat Staff Bungalows, Dinning and Assembly Halls,  Administration Block and among other ongoing projects.
A meeting was later held with the entire staff of the school.


The Annual National Farmers’ and Fishers’ Day  was to be held on 3rd December, 2021 at Cape Coast under the them: ‘Planting for Food and Jobs – Consolidating Food Systems in Ghana’.

The Upper Denkyira West District Celebration was held on Friday, 26th November, 2021 at Ayanfuri to reward Fifteen (15) Farmers, Fisher folks and persons in the Agricultural value chain in various categories in recognition of their sustained effort at ensuring agricultural and fishery production and food security in the District.

The ocassion which was under the Chairmanship of Nana Kwaku Yamoah, of Ayanfuri had the Disytrict Chief Executive, Hon. Richmond Koduah as the the Guest Speaker. He delivered a speech which tauted government’s achievement in the Agric sector and outlined other interventions to improve the sector. 

Mr. Samuel Nsiah of Agona Port was adjudged the District Best Farmer and received tricycle and other items including certificate as his reward. 

The event was supported by Perseus Mining Ghana Limited, NIB Bank, Upper Amenfi Rural Bank, Geodrill Company, Mr. Awudu Issaka and host of other Philantropists. 


Hon. Richmond Kodua is the new DCE for Upper Denkyira West District.
He was given 100% endorsement by the Assembly Members on Monday, 4th October, 2021 at the confirmation meeting of the Assembly.
In his response, he assured all and sundry of Open Door Administration and garnered support of all on his new task to enhance Development of the District.
On his turn, the out gone DCE Hon. Agyemang Asiedu pledged unflinching support to the new DCE in ensuring forward march of the District.

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) directed all the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country to establish District Center of Agriculture, Commerce and Technology (DCACT).

The core mandate of DCACT is to Coordinate harmonize and sustain Government/Donor Agribusiness Initiatives to create an enabling environment for the Districts Industrialization Drive. The DCACT will promote the Agribusiness potentials of the District and also play an important role in directing effectively the private sector into the One-District-One-Factory agenda with a data base of Farmers, Agribusiness information, promoting and sustaining the Planting for Food, Jobs and Investments initiatives.

The committee will also serve as the Local Economic Development (LED) committee coordinates economic activities and potentials that will bolster up the District’s economy.


The current DCACT-LED Committee was inaugurated on Tuesday, 16th February, 2021 at the District Assembly Hall, Diaso at 9:00am.
