The Agric Department held it’s quarterly RELC meeting. The meeting drew participants from the Regional Agricultural Department, the District Agric Department and the Agriculture Extension Agents.
The meeting amongst others was to discuss performance of Agric Extension Agents, Field Observations and the Challenges as well as recommendations through the field and home visits.
New technologies were also introduced to the AEAs to be imparted to farmers to improve yield.
The main challenge to Agriculture production in the District according to the meeting was excessive land degradation resulting from illegal mining.
The recommendation was for massive reclamation to be carried out.
The District Chief Exective, Hon. Richmond Koduah, inaugurated a 41-Member District Homecoming Festival Planning Committee under his chairmanship on 9th June, 2022 at the District Assembly. The core mandate of the Committee is to organize activities leading to the maiden festival which is slated for November, 28 to 4th December, 2022 across the District.
The District Homecoming Festival dubbed #MefriDenkyira is aimed at being an annual event aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people, promoting tourism and attracting business investment to enhance development of the District.
Highligts of activities will include fund raising, Sporting Events, Entertainment, Award ceremony and Grand Durbar of traditional Authorities in and around the District amongst many others.
Nine Sucommittees were also formed to undertake day-to-day planning of detailed activities.
The District Planning Officer, Nana Boakye Agyapong, was tasked head the Homecoming Planning Committee Secretariat which will coordinate all activities before, during and after the celebrations.
