The Upper Denkyira West District Assembly organized a Town Hall Meeting on the 18th February, 2022 at Nyinawusu-Anwiaso to interact with the various sections of society and also create a platform for them to ask questions on development issues and utilization of Assembly resources to better their lives of the people. It also provides the opportunity for the people in the District to make inputs into various policies and programmes of the government in the assembly level.
The meeting drew participants from all sections of society and that included the District Chief Executive, District Assembly Officials, Heads of departments, Traditional Authority, Assembly Members, Members of religious bodies, Traders, Unit Committee and host of others. Atotal of 160 participants attended the meeting composed 127 Males and 33 Females.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Richmond Koduah in his speech highlighted on the incredible achievements the Upper Denkyira West Assembly has made since his assumption to power over a year ago.
He further outlined the major project and programme interventions implemented by both the Central and the Local Governments and that included:
- Agenda 111 where 111 hospitals were being build across the country of which the District was a beneficiary with the District Hospital being constructed at Diaso
- Construction of Clinics at Nkroful and Adaboi
- Upgrading of major roads across the District namely:
- Diaso – Modaso – Wassa Mampong Feeder road
- Dominase – Charleskrom road
- Anwianwia Junction – Wassa Dompoase road
- Asuadei – Adeade road
- Construction of Additional Infrastructure at Diaso Senior High School including;
- Administration Block
- Assembly Hall
- Dining Hall
- 6-Unit 2-Storey Masters Flat
- 2-Storey Girls Dormitory
- 1-Storey Boys Dormitory
- Headmaster’s Bungalow
- Assistant Headmaster’s Bungalow
Construction of 72-Unit Market Sheds at Subin (48) with meat shop and warehouse and Agona Port (24).
He also took the opportunity to explain certain government policies which had generated some controversies within the public spectrum such as the E-Levy which he intimated was somewhat a necessary evil to foster economic growth and development.
He urged all and sundry to rally behind the current administration to deliver on their promises and constitutional mandate to enhance the livelihood of the people whiles ensuring overall development of the people.
